Port related

  • Number of ports: Usually 16 XGPON and GPON combo ports, such as Huawei H902CGHF board has 16 such ports, which can meet the access needs of multiple users or devices.

  • Port rate: The downstream rate of XGPON port can reach 9.953 Gbit/s, and the upstream rate can reach 2.488 Gbit/s; the downstream rate of GPON port is 2.488 Gbit/s, and the upstream rate is 1.244 Gbit/s.

Split ratio

  • The maximum split ratio is 1:256, which means that one PON port can connect up to 256 optical network units (ONUs) through a splitter, which can effectively save optical fiber resources and reduce network construction costs. It is suitable for scenarios where users are more dispersed.

Transmission distance

  • Under the same PON port, the maximum distance difference between two ONUs can reach 40 km, which can meet the network coverage requirements in different geographical environments. For example, in some remote or rural areas, it can reduce the setting of network access points and reduce construction costs.

Frame and Address

  • Maximum frame size: The maximum frame size supported is 2052 bytes. When jumbo frame is enabled, the maximum frame size is 9216 bytes.   • Number of T-CONTs: The number of T-CONTs supported by each PON port, GPON The number of GPON ports is 1024, and the number of XGPON ports is 2048. T-CONT is a logical entity used to allocate and manage bandwidth in GPON/XGPON systems, which can realize bandwidth allocation and scheduling control for different users or services.

Optical module related

  • Optical module type: single-fiber bidirectional optical modules, such as C+, N2a and other types, are used. These optical modules have different performance characteristics and applicable scenarios. You can choose the appropriate optical module according to the actual network needs.

  • Working wavelength: The transmission wavelength of the GPON channel is 1490nm, and the receiving wavelength is 1310nm; the transmission wavelength of the XGPON channel is 1577nm, and the receiving wavelength is 1270nm. Different working wavelengths can realize the multiplexing transmission of different services in the same optical fiber, improving the utilization rate of the optical fiber.

  • Optical power: The minimum output optical power of the N2a optical module is 3dBm for GPON channel and 4dBm for XGPON channel; the maximum output optical power is 7dBm for GPON channel and 8dBm for XGPON channel. The maximum receiving sensitivity of the N2a optical module is -32dBm for the GPON channel and -29.5dBm for the XGPON channel. The appropriate optical power range and receiving sensitivity can ensure the stable transmission and accurate reception of optical signals, and guarantee the reliability and performance of the network.

Other features

HQoS support: Supports hierarchical quality of service (HQoS), which can perform multi-level bandwidth management and traffic scheduling for different users and different services, guarantee the priority transmission of key services, and improve the user's network experience.

Protection function: Supports Type B protection (dual-home and single-home), Type C protection (applicable to dual-home and single-home of GPON channels), and can quickly switch to the backup link when a network failure occurs, ensuring network reliability and business continuity.
